Local Spelling Bee @ OGIS & MCMS
The local Spelling Bee was held yesterday at Oak Grove and MCMS. The winner Katy Hay is in 8th grade and runner-up Angel Grovenor is a 5th grader. The girls will travel to Waycross on February 27th for the District Spelling Bee according to the coordinators, Cheryl Ritch and Claudia Myers.
New Physical Education Program
McIntosh County Middle School's Health Teacher, Britteny Andrews is incorporating the Dance Dance Revolution into the Health Curriculum . Each of our schools received this gift right before the holiday through Marsha Pierce with the Coastal Health District. The DDR is a new fast paced video game that gets students of all ages on their feet. This is an exciting healthy lifestyle challenge for all of our Students and Faculty/Staff to use.

McIntosh County Schools vision is for all students to meet and/or exceed Georgia Accountability measures, for the graduation rate to continuously improve 80% and above, and for the McIntosh County School system to be ranked in the top quartile of comparable systems within the state of Georgia. Through setting and exceeding high expectations, significantly improving literacy practices, multiple interventions, community and parent involvement and utilizing data to drive our instructional program, we aim to meet the vision. As a result of our success, we will attract high performing teachers and new business and industry, and our graduates will be prepared to continue post-secondary options, pursue gainful employment or both.
